Hammocks for your backyard that has no trees. Everyone loves a hammock because it is so relaxing and makes the perfect hang out spot in the backyard. The only other backyard item that is as popular or more is a swimming pool!So imagine what a backyard would be like with a hammock and a swimming pool ... nirvana, if you already have both .... Lucky you!Let's talk specs... I know boring! One of the most important factors when selecting your new hammock is how it is going to be used sounds silly because the Captain Obvious answer would be to stretch out and relax. Good answer but by yourself or with others including your pets? This is important because you will need to decide on the proper size ( single| double | or over sized) and also take into consideration the weight capacity of all those that may be using it at the same time.Having several family members or friends jump on a hammock with you that is designed with a weight capacity for one person could end in disaster and no more hammock time!An over sized or sometimes referred to as a family hammock will be able to handle more than one person with ease or complete paradise for one.Another decision is whether to get spreader bars or a non spreader bar hammock, with spreader bars they are easy to maneuver in and also good for the tanning fans because the lying surface creates less shadow. Non spreader bar hammocks are less likely to tip and will wrap yourself in comfort. Finally the last choice to consider (finally lets get to the good part) is what type of material you want next to your skin.Soft organic cotton.Polyester rope.Synthetic cotton that looks and feels like cotton. Brazilian 100% cotton. Weaved fabric.Any of these choices are going to be excellent it just depends on your personal taste, study the descriptions of the hammock that you may be interested in to determine which material is best for you.Hammock stands or hammock stand combinations. Great ... love the idea of a hammock in the backyard or on the patio but no trees! If you think that you need to have trees in your backyard or a pergola type structure to hang a hammock, think again because trees or other support structures are not necessary if you have a stand that will do all the supporting.Hammocks stands come in all shapes and sizes, some are adjustable which is ideal if you already have your hammock and you need one size that fits all. There are also portable stands that only need one strong support item i.e. a tree, a pergola or even the bumper of a truck to support one end of your hammock will the tripod end of the stand supports the other end, clear as mud? To understand how this works browse this page. The material used to engineer hammock stands may be wood, powder coated steel, bamboo, and some of high quality cypress wood stands are beautiful and may add value to your outdoor living space.Camping with a hammock. Backpacking in the wilderness can be relaxing and provides for a great outdoors experience however you can't take your favorite bed with you so if you want a good night's sleep the next best thing is a comfortable hammock that is designed for camping. If you slept on a hammock overnight in the wilderness and didn't have a good experience more than likely the reason why was one or more of these:Not the proper size hammock for you. If a hammock is too small it is no different than sleeping in a conventional bed that is too small and your feet are hanging over the edge or worse. Consider a hammock size that will allow you to easily roll over from side to side without falling out.The hammock is not properly setup. If your hammock is not properly set up and adjusted you will more than likely end being completely miserable and wake up with a sore back and more. The hammock should have a banana shaped dip in the middle, too much and you will be folded up like a taco, too little and you will likely roll out and be eating dirt.Did not consider the temperature at night and got cold. If the temperature at night gets really cold then you will not be warm enough because being suspended off the ground allows for a draft under the hammock and will at some point make you wish you were home in your nice warm bed. There are several easy fixes for this problem, you can spread out a sleeping bag on top of your hammock or unzip and use the upper/lower of the sleeping bag with the hammock in the middle to stay warm.Another solution is to use a blanket that is large enough to drape over the hammock on both sides to eliminate any draft underneath.Using a hammock when camping also allows you to leave no trace if that is important to you (hopefully it is) and there are hanging kits that will eliminate any potential damage to trees.Backyard design with a hammock in mind. Do you have a boring backyard area that needs something special to make it pop? Try using a colorful Brazilian cotton hammock as the centerpiece and place potted plants with additional color on each side and top it off with a cool table that will provide a spot for your favorite beverage a or reading material. The area you create needs to be inviting for you and your loved ones otherwise you will not be motivated to use it, it also lets you imagine using it during the day when you are at work, hey no leaving work early!
